Devlogs:
Devlog #1 I spent 3 hours trying to get Node.js to send a request to RobTop’s servers with no response at all. Then I switched to building a backend with Python and then it took me like 5 minutes to get a response. 80/20 rule, except in the end all the info I got was, in the words of the furry great player GD Colon, “a hot minus-one”. (You can see this at the bottom of the terminal, amidst all the errors). So it’s more like 80/20/0. I felt the need to devlog because well, -1 is still something even if mathematically is it less than nothing.
Devlog #2 I got RobTop’s servers to return data about two minutes after I made my last devlog. Since I couldn’t make a devlog yet, I just decided to add some new features. So the reason that I didn’t get any data from the server is because I added an extra parameter. When I removed it, the servers returned something like 1:EthanCubes:2:272364184:13:75:17:63:6:0:9:1:10:3:11:12: 51:15: 14:0:15:0:16:31268368:3:729:52:97:46:2675:8:0:4:11#999:0:10 why are there emojis there. I also added a function to calculate the skill rating from the dictionary. I’m rated 1515. Smiffy777 is rated over one million.
Devlog #3: Is anyone actually reading this? I spent an hour today trying to implement code for a simple leaderboard of ELO. It went well for a while, and then I actually tested the application and got temporarily IP banned from the GD servers. And then it happened again, even when I added a delay to requesting data from the servers. At this point I don’t even know what I can do to add a live-ish leaderboard so I just scrapped the idea altogether. Yay, I love when I waste an entire hour doing something that I have to undo literally moments later.
#Devlog #4: I can finally claim to be a full-stack web developer. New Stuff I re-added the frontend for the web application to that users cna actually see the data. I added a functional backend that the frontend can actually send requests to and get data back from. Challenges I had previously managed to fetched data from RobTop’s servers, but I couldn’t manage to find a way to get the data onto the front end. I also couldn’t make the requests from the front end because CORS would block it. So I had to learn how to code a backend with Python and Flask. Lowkey I still don’t fully understand how to use Flask though lol.
Devlog #5: Well, I’m back. The reason I haven’t been working on this project is because there’s no where to host the backend without being blocked by Cloudflare- except locally on your own device. So, I’m turning this into a local Python app. So far, I’ve made a CLI that can access the servers and return the data, and also return an ELO. Due to uh, file migration, I had to rewrite a lot of a code (and totally not because the code was absolute spaghetti before)
Devlog #6 The last time I ported everything over to the new locations without copying because I wanted to reorganize and make the code better, I completely forgot about demonlist integration. So I spent a while trying to get the demonlist integration to work. I’m writing this like a day later so I don’t really remember what I was struggling with, all I remember is that I forgot to convert the data from server to JSON, and was trying to access data in an incorrect format. And I was just blaming in on the main.py file instead of the fetching file, and yeah I took way too much time solving a problem that didn’t need to exist.
Devlog #7 I finally made a GUI! This is the second time I’ve made a GUI with Python, and the first time with Tkinter (last time I used Pygame). The UI currently looks pretty rough and I definitely need to find a way to make it look better, if that’s even possible. I’ve turned Comet into an optimizing compiler! So far we don’t have much, but Comet now has constant folding and constant propagation. But what does that actually mean? “Constant Folding” Constant folding means we look through the code for any math expressions or other things of the like. If there are any constants in the math expression, then we can replace the expression with what it will equal. For example: int x = ( 2 + 3 ) * ( 4 + 5 ) The constant folder will see (2+3), and because the expression only has constants it will replace it with 5 int x = 5 * ( 4 + 5 ) The constant folder then sees (4+5), and replaces it with 9. int x = 5 * 9 And finally it sees 5 * 9 and replaces it with 45. int x = 45 We’ve turned a 7 instruction expression into 1 instruction! “Constant Propogation” Constant propogation means that if a variable stays a value that the compiler knows throughout the variable’s lifetime, then we can replace all instances of that variable with its value. For example: int x = 2 + 3 int y = x + 3 * 2 Constant folding runs and we get int x = 5 int y = x + 6 x is a compile time constant now, and because it never stops being a constant, we can replace all values of x with 5. int x = 5 int y = 5 + 6 See how we can now run constant folding again now that we have more information? This is why compilers run optimizations over and over, until the code doesn’t change anymore. Bug Fixes ───────────────────────────────────────── Along with adding an optimizer, I’ve fixed a large bug Return statements are automatically added to functions now! Before, if you didn’t add a return statement, your function could go past where it should’ve been, crashing your program and possibly even running code it shouldn’t. That is now fixed. Comet also throws an error if you don’t include a return statement in a non-void function. Docs ───────────────────────────────────────── Finally, I’ve extended the docs on the Comet website. I think I had already spent around 100 hours on the project. The project was originally written in LLVM, however, LLVM was quite difficult to get working, and I wanted to make progress rather than be stuck fighting with a slow piece of junk. So I decided to rewrite the entire compiler. I created a VM and decided that the VM would be my compilation target. This made things such as exceptions possible because I would not have to worry about stack unwinding and other very complicated and difficult things. I’ve made a huge amount of progress since then, and have gotten exceptions, external libraries, generics and structs, as well as arrays working since I created this project. In this project, I created a little thing where 5 LEDs of different colours light up in order and then go out in that same order. What went well: Since this is a very simple project, the code was quite easy to understand and do. Likewise, the wiring was also very easy. What went wrong: I initially planned to do this with 10 LEDs, but then I realized they would be to crammed to all fit in a nice row and looked good, so I downsized to 5. Additionally, I am not fully aware of all of the pins on the esp32 so I wasn’t aware that pin 35 is solely for input. The blue LED wouldn’t light up, and I thought I was going crazy. The fix was to just use another pin and bring it in the row through a couple extra wires. What can improve: Now I ain’t no genius here, but I believe that this code was very long and very repetitive, since it just defines, pin number, sets it to output, then turns it on high, delay, next pin, until they’re all high, then turns them off, delay, repeat until they’re all off. I’m sure that this can be condensed, and be made shorter. Looks like I’ll do that when I’m more advanced. Additionally, the VSCode + Github copilot in the beginning knew what I was going to write, and I want it to be purely my code so I turned it off. Final Comments: Not a bad start, but we’ve just started and there’s a lot to learn. I also hate having to put semi-colons at the end of every declaration. What is this bro, just hit enter into the next line and call it a day."}]...

Devlog Title: Keyey by @Thenewtechguy | Stardance
Devlogs:
I spent 3 hours on this to get Hackatime to not log my time:((. Any ways I wired up the keyboard matrix, designed the layout
I wired up the pico 2W to a usbc connector (through the TP2, TP3 pins on the bottom of the pico) I also pulled the Ec11 and in the process of researching and wiring the TP4056 battery charger. The DNP is because I don’t know beforehand which side of the JST connector is GND and which is 4.2V, so I’m gonna leave 4 footprint and bridge them when I get the battery
So I’ve decided to use the RP2350B instead of the Pico 2 because then I have space for the usb connector without the keyboard getting too big and looking funny.
I wired up the RP2350B according to the RP2350 hardware design guide and finished wiring the TP4056 and figuring out how MOSFETs work to design a system to shut off battery power when usb is inserted.
I finished the wiring for the TP4056 and got the TPS2115APWR as a power switcher. I also got 84 sk6811-minie leds that im gonna put on the bottom sidw of the board
So since this is going to be my first keyboard i’ve decided to ditch the bluetooth and battery idea. And i’ve started placing the capacitor for the sk6812 and the diode for the switches
I finished the placement of the parts and have started routing
I finished wiring the columns and rows and started wiring the led chain. I’M SO DUMBBBB!!! I PUT THE LEDS IN THE WRONG ORDER SO I SPENT 1 HOUR REARANGING!!!!
Finished wiring everything. Made copper fill zones. The nightmare is over!!. Now I uploaded the 3d files of the components to kicad and uploaded the keyboard to Onshape. Next steps are to design the case, and add something on the silkscreen for fun!
I made mounting holes on the case so that it can fit threaded insert also I made that so the keyboard has a natural tilt( gonna do some research on what angle to use). But at the moment I cant make a hole for the usbc connector. someone send help:/
Made the slot for the usb-c connector and added a circle around the hole for the QSPI-SS. Next is to make the case and put it all together
So the keyboard is looking good. I just need to change the position of some mounting holes on the pcb. Which is a headaches because Onshape’s update feature don’t really work for me so I have to import everything into a new doc:((
Finished fixing errors of the plate and added the stab’s cad file. Next is to add the key caps file and then fill in the top whole of the plate.
So i made the empty space as high as the wall so it wouldn’t look out of place. Increased the hole for the EC11 on the plate and made sure there was a 0.5-1mm between the plate and other moving components
My not doing research before designing is coming back to bite me in the back. QMK doesn’t support the Rp2350. Now I have 2 options: Learn how to use ZMK instead of QMK or redesign the board for the Rp2040. I might take the 2nd option.(I added a little Brushbuddy from my favorite manga/anime WHA cause why not)
I was able to fix Keyey!!!. So I switched from the Rp2350b to the Rp2040 so that I can use QMK configurator. I made the BOM. Next is to finish the my BOM to request funding and Building the README.
Why is JLCPCB so expensive!!!! Im going to order the parts from LCSC then request funding for a soldering+hot air station and save over 50USD!!! Also I’m making the BOM to submit
So I’m resubmitting Keyey. I got some comments on my last submission and changed what needed to be changed and now am back!...

So basically, chess.com has its own bot for game reviews (unlimited for paid users) but it only looks at that one games details and helps you with that. My website basically pulls in the data of your user through the public endpoint from chess.com. We get all game data and feed it to an AI. I am building two different modes for it. 1. thats pretty “brutal” while the other is “nicer-er”. Everything will be free, but slow -> uses glm 5.1 from NIM. (If I do add a paid tier, it will include faster inference and stuff). So currently, I got the the system prompts ready and a base of the website. (Gets game data and gives you a review) I will be adding chess boards soon and a better UI!"}]...
