I was initially making and iterating on my keyboard keys/base just fine (see the 1st image with a ton of my test prints for the best key shape), but the reason why I lost motivation was because Onshape, my initial 3d modeling program, proved to be too laggy to work with with my trash wifi (waiting 20s for each change to propagate gets old real fast). I then went on a whole arc trying to learn the code-based CAD tool build123d (2nd pictures below is of me attempting to make a spring; I did a lot more than just that with the ~20hr I spent learning it), which I can ultimately say was sort of a mistake. learning code-based CAD was definitely valuable, but I just ended up hating Python even more after this. I went through a few iterations from my previous models from Onshape, but even when I did manage to remake my designs with it, it just felt horrible using the API, and I just quit this project out of frustration for a while. Now though, I am taking AP Music Theory in school, so I figured why not come back to it, since I still do want to make my own keyboard. I then found out that FreeCAD has made the UX actually bearable to use (it is infamously horrible to use compared to other solutions that I cannot afford, or that’s what I thought until I realized that 1.1 got released a couple months earlier and that I only had 1.0 installed when I tested it, so I didn’t have to go through the torture of learning build123d at all, but oh well). There’s only a couple weeks left of this as of I am writing this, so I’ll have to crunch this alongside my college applications that I’m doing, but hopefully it should be fine. Anyways, now that I’m back, I have cleaned up the Rust codebase just to familiarize myself with it again, and I have started working on making the keys again in FreeCAD (the black key holes are now accurate to a real keyboard, as they each are actually slightly offset from the white key edges if you look closely enough, and even such irregular offsets were made somewhat trivial by FreeCAD’s automation tools). FreeCAD can still sometimes be a pain to use (it took me 20 minutes just to arrange the keys!), but I am ultimately glad that I am back, and hopefully I finish everything in time."}, {"post_id": 24358, "ts": "2026-07-07T21:24:22Z", "hours": 22.5422, "text": "On the microcontroller side of things, I have started implementing a WiFi Access Point on an esp32. Also, I forgot to add this to my previous devlog, but the reason why I opted for DS6 sizing is so that a whole octave is safely printable on my Bambu A1 mini (the base plate is ~160mm wide compared to the A1 having an 180mm build plate). Finished modelling the initial base models. It took quite a while to align and correct everything, but the base plate finally fits a whole octave of keys correctly. There were a lot of things I had to consider, like how the keycaps are to be connected to a controller (I opted for the easy option of leaving it up to the user to manually solder) and how other octaves should be connected (I initially added dovetails for extending the keyboard, but I removed them for some reason that I honestly can’t remember; i should probably go back and add them back). Note that there are supposed to be mechanical keyboard switches separating the keys from the base, but I’ve accounted for them so that they should fit.
On the microcontroller side of things, I have started implementing a WiFi Access Point on an esp32. This is going to serve as the gateway to the configuration of the device, which I am trying to make it so that it is as simple as being a captive portal (a page that immediately pops up once you connect to the network). Devlogs:
For my first devlog, I successfully built and launched the initial prototype of my JARVIS AI assistant using Python on macOS. By integrating NASA’s open APIs with the Google-GenAI SDK running a gemini-2.5-flash model, I created a continuous terminal chat loop that behaves exactly like Tony Stark’s sophisticated assistant. Despite hitting a package namespace conflict and a temporary 503 server capacity spike, the script’s exception handling kept the program alive, ultimately delivering a live, in-character briefing on NASA’s current Mars and Artemis missions.
For the second major phase of my Stardance project, I transformed my local python program from a basic command-line interface into an immersive NASA Mission Control simulator. I learned a lot about python and API keys. I overhauled the user experience by building a retro-futuristic ASCII art boot banner, integrating ANSI color matrices for a custom green and cyan HUD terminal, and restructuring the system prompt to promote the operator to “Flight Director.” Technically, I expanded the architecture to dual-query multiple NASA assets simultaneously, including live orbital asteroid defense feeds and deep-space candidate star monitoring, while maintaining a persistent chat state pipeline so the assistant retains context across multiple telemetry commands. I hope to improve this so much and turn it into a website. Right now its talking using my mac.
Working on getting the project put on a website. Everything seems to be going well so far. i worked on trying to make everything look cool and professional. I hope this goes well!
Finally got it published on a website. Looking good. Worked on improving the ui. I think it’s going pretty well.
Made final tweaks. The app looks kinda awesome. Only downside is that it has Gemini free api limits…. but I think it’s almost ready to ship!
Added a couple of late-minute changes to make it work better overall. Might add a backup api key later. Shipping for now!
I got the project hosted onto vercel

I built an AI Jarvis that is purely for NASA-based queries. It gives real-time updates using multiple NASA APIs. My biggest problem was figuring out APIs and using Google Gemini as the base for this project. My biggest limitation is that I can’t pay for the better version, so I run into my Gemini limits pretty fast. I hope you enjoy!
I built an AI jarvis (its rate limited because i cant pay right now sorry) but I think its really cool! its hosted on vercel!...

The new font The new System-Font is now “VT323” 2.Calc-95 The new app, “Calc-95” is a basic calculator using Js-logic 3.The Taskbar The new Taskbar allows to minimize apps and see wich are currently open, as before you could only overlap apps wich just wasnt great tbh. 4.Export for MicroMemo You can now export your notes written in MicroMemo using the “export” button, wich will then download a .txt to save any important notes! Hope yall enjoy the features I made for WebOS 2, cya!

RetrOS shipping I made a Retro-Themed WebOS (hence the name), using the given Guide. I myself added my own apps, such as HobbyTrack, MicroMemo, PixelPainter and RetroPet. I am really proud of integrating HobbyTrack, as I find it very useful, and hope yall will too! The Project was a very fun journey, especially considering it was my (kind of) first real HTML Project. I hope enjoy using RetrOS just as much as I do.
For WebOS 2, I made four for additions to RetrOS, wich are a new font, a calculator (!!!), an export feature for MicroMemo and a Taskbar. For further info on the apps, please see the last devlog. I’m really proud of how this turned out, and will definitely continue building on this. Hope y’all enjoy it!...
