The idea is straightforward: you draw a star on screen, and the game scores how close you are to a mathematically perfect star shape. It sounds simple, but it quickly turns into one of those “just one more try” kind of challenges. I built the site using Astro for structure and performance, and styled it with Tailwind CSS to keep the UI design process simple. For deployment, I used GitHub Pages, which also forced me to properly understand static builds, routing, and how Astro compiles static projects down for production. That part alone helped me get a lot more comfortable with real-world deployment workflows. This was mostly a fan project, but it ended up being a really useful way to get back into web development after a short break. I brushed up on Git workflows, got more comfortable with CSS animations, and learned a lot about handling user input smoothly in the browser without external libraries. deployed a prototype build of “draw a perfect star” to github pages! also made it look a little nicer lol :p

Devlogs:
I set up the project using Laravel, Blade and Tailwind CSS, create the first version of homepage and started integrating the Modrinth API for project search.
I redesigned a large part of the website to give CraftHub cleaner and more consitent look. The search and project pages have been reworked, with better layouts, project cards, filter and overall navigation. The search system has been significantly improved. You can now filter projects by Minecraft version, loader and project type, as well as sort results by relevance, downloads, publish date, … I aso added pagination and improved support for projects that have multiple types such as projects available as both a mod and a plugin. The integration with the Modrinth API v3 has also been improved to better handle project data and filtering.
CraftHub now supports SpigotMC resources alongside Modrinth projects.
I’ve added a new download modal to simplify downloads and list all available versions in one place
I reworked some of the page components to give them a more human feel, rather than an AI-generated one.
I reworked some of page components (again)
Ships:

Made auth better I didn’t think putting the password as a argument in the URL itself was a good implementation, so I took the liberty to beef things up a bit more. Now: Separate master key Separate read-only key Keys submitted in the body of post requests Additionally, I found a bug with removing rows. It didn’t cascade down leading to holes in indexing so I fixed the indexing part of the script. TODO: Tbh, this is almost complete imo, but if I did have to do some more work, then: Implement RLS Implement indexing/cache (optional ultra pro max)
Decided to create an implementation of RLS. It’s kind of sloppy, but it should work for it’s purpose. It works by having hidden columns on every table that dictate what keys have access to the rows, and what permissions those keys have. Service key is able to set RLS status (enabled/disabled) and individual keys are generated per user. I think the project is ready to be shipped, because honestly SheetDB is pretty slow because it uses apps script and google sheets. So if you want to scale up and have multiple users, its better to use Supabase or something of that sort.
