Traffic weaves through the level too — some of it sitting directly on your line, forcing an actual choice between chasing a streak and swerving to survive. I’d never touched audio analysis before — I knew Unity, I knew C#, and I had a pretty clear picture of the feeling I wanted (weaving through a highway that’s actually reacting to the song you picked), but the actual how of “read an MP3 and find the beat” was a total blank. So I built it the only way that made sense: one small, testable piece at a time. Load the file. Confirm you can actually read the raw samples back out — and immediately learn the hard way that array indices and seconds-into-the-song are not the same scale when your audio is stereo and interleaved. Get a single number (energy in a window) that’s louder on a kick drum than on silence. Watch it also light up on vocals and melody, because raw loudness doesn’t know the difference between a kick and a chorus — and go learn what a low-pass filter actually does about that. Watch beats land audibly late, and find out that’s because you’re timestamping the start of a window instead of hunting for the actual peak inside it. Rebuild the whole detector around change in energy instead of raw energy, because a sustained bassline was getting picked up as a wall of false beats a flat threshold could never tell apart from a real hit. The design itself changed shape more than once, too. The original plan kept the bike frozen in place with the whole world scrolling past it, specifically to dodge floating-point drift over a long run. Then a simple particle trail on the bike broke that illusion completely — a trail can’t read as “moving forward” if the thing it’s attached to never actually moves — so the bike started really driving, and the “drift” problem I’d been defending against turned out to not even apply once I did the math on how far a single song could actually carry it. A whole planned system (recycling road tiles forever) got deleted the moment I realized every level is scoped to one finite, fully-known-in-advance song — there’s no “forever” to build for. The traffic system is maybe my favorite piece of this, honestly. Cars aren’t just scattered around — they’re placed by solving backwards: given exactly where and when I want a near-miss to happen, and how fast the car should be going, what starting position makes that car arrive there right on cue? Same trick the beat blocks use for their own placement, just pointed at a different problem. Tech No third-party DSP libraries — the beat and melody detection are hand-rolled: single-pole low-pass/band-pass filtering, spectral-flux-style onset detection, and a lightweight spectral-centroid approximation for melody direction, all built directly on raw AudioClip sample data"}]...

Sketchpad !! so i like arduino but arduino ide? not so much so i wanted to make an alternative for the ide in swiftui so i founded out that there something call arduino-cli which basically is arduino backend so you can do things like boards management and compile upload via the cli (well that for human) but for us instead of calling the cli and parse the stdout we can use the gRPC interface instead so you run the cli as a daemon and use gRPC to talk so with this devlog i made a swiftui app that when start download the arduino-cli and run it as a daemon and create grpc client and connect to it.
the human is unable to type-check this expression in reasonable time so for today it 1 hour of making the layout for sidebar and 3 hour of fighting with swiftui but oh well so for the first 3 hour i been spending time trying to understand why doesn’t my bootstrap code get ran when app start but for some reason if i return an emptyview it doesn’t run but if i return it anything even a text it will ran so yea i still dont know why so not gonna comment much on that but rn the app is one window group it route to 2 view bootstrap and main based on boolean inside controller and inside main i try to start working on the layout tbh i kinda hope i did more today. but it is what it is and yea that what i did today
So umm i hate swiftui for some reason a picker inside the sidebar cannot show an icon but a picker inside a toolbar in the sidebar can so as much as i hate it i put it there
Basic Sketch Creation so i implement this modal that let you type in sketch name and select the path to create and then sent those over to arduino cli to create the sketch and yea it works!
Code Editorrrrr so i just setup https://github.com/mchakravarty/CodeEditorView and now you can create new sketch edit and save it well it a really basic editor right now but am working on implementing thing like autocomplete and syntax highlight
Umm sadly i need to rewrite so the old codebase was a mess so i decided to reset and build sketchpad2 which is going better cuz instead of trying to figure out swift my self and shoot myself in the foot a thousand time i decide to let codex help me implement my idea instead and yea i will shelf learning swiftui myself later when i got more free time and not trying to make arduino editor to use in my project so from the reset i change the app to be document app and decided against NavigationSplitView and just use a plain simple editor view toolbar
Board Manager well we now have a board manager prototype this take a lot longer than expect as i call Create rpc and not Create then Init rpc and arduino grpc document is like nothing so i spend an hour making codex fetch board from wrong rpc as i use BoardListAll instead of PlatformSearch
Looking GoOooOooD so yea just refine the board manager by using NavigationSplitView and searchbar inside sidebar and you can now upgrade or downgrade platform version
Yayyy after fighting with codex a thousand time and fighting with xcode swiftui i finally has a working arduino ide in swiftui yayyy
Procrastination is something so i been working on a swiftui arduino ide for a while and last month i am really busy (atleast i think so to myself) so i didn’t really do anything after the last devlog but now that stardance is ending (sadd) i feel like it a waste if am not trying to ship it so i been trying to refactor and polish the project to a small mvp that is stable enough that i can ship my goal for the ship is just you can add additional board you can install uninstall upgrade downgrade library and board and compile flash and maybe serial monitor if i had time. but the video you see below might look weird the last devlog there a lot more stuff so i been refactoring a lot of the ui code and backend code so right now the backend logic is ready just need the ui that i will try and finish tmr and hopefully we can ship it soon
Board and Library! so i been working on a new library and board manager there still some bugs and quirk but it mostly useable also i just added the app icon also tbh i spend more than just 3h it was like 5h cuz i can’t figure out what wrong with the library search rpc turn out the response is just too big so the response limit got cut off and the grpc error code isn’t just any helpful it just say operation cancel so yea that was a pain
Done!! i have complete the building and uploading which means that this is our last devlog it really fun working on this am preparing to ship it right now and yea it 6 in the morning i haven’t sleep since idk when but yea fighting with macOS sign stuff right now
Ships:
Finallyyyyy!!! so this project started from just me wanting to build something with swiftui so i decided i use arduino ide why not make it in native macos ui so we can have like liquid glass and stuff so there that imo there still a lot more features to implement but for now in current build there downloading of board and library and you can upload so i think it does a ok job of being an arduino ide so yea goodbyeee stardance is ending and i been staying all night long to finally ship this so to test you can download the .dmg in github releases by click try project If MacOS blocks it, run xattr -cr Sketchpad.app or go to System Settings > Privacy & Security, scroll down to the Security section, and click Open Anyway. And finally if you have any bugs or suggestion you can write it in there below but if you would like to attach some picture you can email me the bugs detail or suggestion at [email protected] and i will fix it for you!! and yea this is a product of an all nighter powered by monster energy ultra so maybe there something i missed so please tell me any changes goodbye stardanceeee...

What was challenging: At one point, every satellite prediction was perfectly calculated, but for the mirror image of Earth. A single flipped sign in the orbital math put passes on the wrong side of the planet, and nothing looked obviously broken until I cross-checked each pass against an independent physics library, minute by minute, until reality matched. The other fight was time itself: switching an app built around UTC to local time without breaking a single countdown. What I’m proud of: The app now distrusts the internet by default. Dead APIs, rate limits, airplane mode: it keeps working from cached data and built-in satellite TLEs whenever possible. It also includes real orbital calculations, satellite tracking, radio frequencies, and a full interactive terminal interface, all installable with a single command. Features: People in Space, NASA APOD, Launches, ISS Tracking, Space Weather, Satellite Passes, Themes, Dashboard The GitHub README includes a detailed breakdown of the features, modes, configuration options, and command-line flags, along with screenshots and examples. Devlogs:
Im working on spacecrew, a linux command line tool for managing and organizing space-related information directly from the terminal. Im improving the CLI, adding features, fixing bugs, and making the project easier to use.
Today I worked on spacecrew and made several improvements to the project. I added NASA’s Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD), so users can now view the current astronomical picture directly from the CLI. I also tested the feature, updated the project documentation, and published the updated version to GitHub and PyPI. I also worked on improving the overall project and making the CLI easier to use.
Today I worked on spacecrew and enhanced the project with major improvements. I enhanced NASA’s Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) with date navigation (previous day), HD image opening in browser, and full metadata display. I also added a new Upcoming Launches feature using The Space Devs API, showing 15 upcoming launches from all agencies with a clean panel-based list view and detailed view including links to launch transmissions when available, mission patch, and info/Wikipedia links. I restructured the CLI with a main menu for three modes (People in Space, APOD, Launches), added NASA_API_KEY environment variable support with DEMO_KEY fallback, and implemented in-memory session caching for both features. Published v1.1.8 to GitHub and PyPI.
Today I released spacecrew v1.1.9. The main addition is an ISS Tracker using wheretheiss.at (real-time TLE calculation) as primary source with open-notify.org fallback - shows latitude, longitude, altitude (~425 km), velocity (~27,500 km/h), visibility, and location name via reverse geocoding, plus a Google Maps link. Core improvements: persistent SQLite cache with configurable TTL (30 days default) for all API responses, a config file at ~/.config/spacecrew/config.toml (NASA API key, cache TTL, theme, default mode), CLI arguments for direct mode access (–mode {people, apod, launches, iss}), –clear-cache, –no-cache, Windows-compatible screen clearing, and Python 3.10 support via conditional tomli dependency. Published to GitHub (tag v1.1.9) and PyPI via the automated workflow.
Today I released spacecrew v1.1.10, v1.1.11, and v1.1.12. v1.1.10 - Added –offline flag: runs entirely from local SQLite cache with zero network requests. Avoids rate limits, works without internet. All four modes work if previously cached. Banner shows “Offline mode: using cached data only”. v1.1.11 - Launch countdown timer: live T- in launches list (cyan to yellow to red as launch nears, LAUNCHED for past). Space Weather dashboard (menu option 5, –mode weather): solar flares (X/M/C colored), CMEs with speed, Kp index with storm level (Quiet to G5), NOAA 3-day forecast highlights. All cached (1-day TTL), works offline. v1.1.12 - Fixed few things. Published to GitHub (tags v1.1.10, v1.1.11, v1.1.12) and PyPI via automated workflow.
spacecrew v1.1.14 - Satellite Pass Predictor. Menu option 6 / spacecrew –mode passes. Celestrak TLE data + local sgp4 propagation, no API keys, no rate limits, works offline after first run. Tracks ISS, Starlink trains, and many more satellites. Calculates visible passes for the next three days: elevation >10°, sky dark, satellite sunlit. Ships:
spacecrew - mission control for your terminal What I made: I got tired of opening five browser tabs to follow space, so I built one command that brings them all together. spacecrew tells you who’s in orbit this second, tells you when the ISS is about to cross your sky, counts down the next liftoff with a rocket photo beside it, displays NASA’s Picture of the Day in terminal characters, and tracks solar activity with a verdict on whether you’ll see auroras tonight. Try it yourself: Install with either command: pipx install spacecrew or pip install spacecrew...

Core Engine Online: Neon Clock & Particle Physics! The foundation for Kinetix is officially live. I’ve successfully implemented the core sci-fi aesthetic for this custom start page, completely replacing the standard default browser tab.
The Kinetix start page has officially evolved into a practical daily-driver dashboard with a clean, three-column layout. I anchored the center with a glowing “KINETIX” header, a functional search bar, and quick-link shortcuts to my most used sites. On the sides, I implemented CSS glassmorphism to create frosted, semi-transparent widget panels that will soon house a music player, weather tracker, and calendar. These UI updates sit seamlessly over the interactive canvas particle network, perfectly balancing everyday functionality with the core sci-fi aesthetic.
I just wrapped up V1 of Kinetix, a custom cyberpunk-themed new tab dashboard built with vanilla HTML, CSS, and JS featuring a live Open-Meteo weather widget, a dynamic calendar, and a custom HTML5 music player. The build went smoothly until deployment, where I ran into a gauntlet of bizarre bugs: GitHub’s web editor stripping my uploaded MP3s into corrupted 2-byte text files, Safari aggressively caching that broken audio, and CSS Flexbox stubbornly stretching my music widget across the entire screen. After dragging and dropping fresh binary files directly into the repo, forcing a hard cache clear, and overriding the global flex layout with a strict #music-panel ID, the layout finally snapped into place and the synthwave tracks are blasting perfectly.
Mission Complete: Launching Kinetix V1 for the Stardance ChallengeWe finally made it to the finish line. After battling GitHub deployment bugs, Safari audio caching, and stubborn CSS flexbox layouts, Version 1 of Kinetix is officially live and fully functional. This project started as a way to build a custom cyberpunk-themed new tab page, but it evolved into a highly interactive dashboard that hits every requirement for the Stardance Challenge. In this final sprint, I added two major features to complete the command-center vibe:The Persistent Terminal Log: I built a custom scratchpad in the bottom right corner using a and JavaScript’s localStorage API. It instantly saves any text as I type, meaning I can open a new tab, jot down a quick note or hex code, close the browser, and my data is perfectly preserved when I return.Interactive 3D Globe: To balance the left column under the music player, I integrated Globe.gl. Getting this working was a puzzle of its own—I had to fight with HTML nesting to keep it from escaping its widget panel, track down a missing closing tag that accidentally trapped the 3D canvas inside the audio player, and manually configure the WebGL controls to allow mouse wheel and trackpad pinch-to-zoom. Now, there is a fully textured, auto-rotating, full-color Earth floating right on the dashboard.

The biggest challenge was wrangling CSS Flexbox to keep my widget grid perfectly aligned, along with debugging a bizarre GitHub Pages deployment issue that was corrupting my MP3 files. I am most proud of integrating the interactive 3D WebGL globe on the left side and building a persistent “Hacker Notepad” using the browser’s local storage API. To test the project, try clicking and dragging the globe to spin it, use your scroll wheel or trackpad pinch to zoom, play a synthwave track, and type a quick note in the bottom-right terminal log—if you refresh the page, your text will still be exactly where you left it!...

Devlogs:
I started schematics to make this project to help readers
I continued working on the schematics for example adding the batteries module the led charge indicator light as well as the usb c wired charge import point where we can plug in wire to charge the battery, here I paused as KiCad had some errors with the GND attachments
I continued working on schenmatics daily labelling and started connecting the display connectors as well as doing bug fix and debugging
I have completed the schematics officially like including the Micro SD card parts as well as the menu and next page control buttons :)
I have started to work on the main PCB of this project including arrangement of emements and tracing the wires
I have stared working on my PCB including tracing points fbetween the components
I have completed wiring the PCB and checked the DRC for any error and this is how the PCB will look like this is mainly also how the E Reader will look like as I am looking for the raw electronic look it makes in my opuion look quite cool hence no case design is intended for any case/protection though not needed could be replaced with a simple plastic sleeve :) Hope this projects get funded and Ill be able to make this IRL :) A few bugs are there which will be fixed tomorrow :)
I fixed the main error of USB C J1 facing into the circuit fixed it by rerouting and making it face outwards so its easy to charge...
