Devlogs:
Just completed the backend, I completed the setup of mongodb databse, and betterauth authentication, i still need to work on the front end.
Just created the ui of the homepage, using reference from the design language of another website.
In the older versions when the user was signed in, it would still show the sign in button on the navigation bar, now it shows a profile picture and a option to logout. In the previous versions it would also require a login everytime you clicked on a blog now it only does that once, also in previous versions it would require a login everytime the page refreshed i also fixed that so now you stay signed in.
Added the functionality to like, comment and share, also fixed some errors in mongodb where the posts were not syncing with the database correctly
The project is complete, I deployed the website to vercel and created a github repository for it
Removed the useless and weird elements that the AI agent had added, that I did not notice initially, now the website is much more refined, I also changed the font

This is going to be a short project lasting one devlog…here we go! Getting to the bottom of the issue The hinge part connecting the temple to the screw broke off. After many hours trying to glue them back together, I decided to 3d print a whole new temple, alongside a stronger hinge for the screw. Temple dimensions Using a trusty ruler, I measured the parts of the temple, first from the top, then at the side, so that I could replicate these dimensions in Onshape. I constantly had to compare the physical proportions to the CAD, so that it (hopefully) looked as accurate as possible. CADing Finally, it came down to using sketches on the top, front, and slightly angled planes to establish the structure of the temple. Then I extruded separate parts on each plane and connected them using lofts (with tangents) for smooth transitions. The struggle with hinges… No wonder the metal hinges on the original glasses broke. They’re like a mm (maybe less) thick, and the 3d printed hinge definitely broke!! So instead of accuracy it was time to prioritize strength. Instead of wedging the hinge into the cavity of the glasses hinge, forcing it to be thin and weak, I would wedge the hinge OVER the glasses hinge! (Makes no sense in text but hopefully in the images) Finale After printing, gluing, and sanding, the temple was finally complete. I used a slightly longer watch screw to connect the part to the glasses, and viola! It was done. :)"}]...

I opened PR #251 in the hackclub/theseus repo where I fixed a very very annoying issue , namely the fact that the mail.hackclub.com website would take AGES to load because of a very large map being rendered on the UI thread as the homepage loaded. The PR has subsequently been merged (thanks to Rowan) and now everyone’s experience with the Hack Club Mail website has been greatly improved!

I made 2 small contributions to the Hack Club Mail platform (theseus): a PR in which I gated the map on the homescreen behind a styled button to make the web page load faster a PR in which I made the website look prettier by adding a Windows 95-themed background image...

So let me show you around. My plan with Resin When I started out with Hack Club’s Sprig, I couldn’t really bear the software limitations. I always thought RPI Pico is more capable than how it’s portrayed with Sprig. While this Hack Club initiative is great, inconsistencies between the web simulator and real firmware (many games don’t work on the console) mixed with quite a poor editor made me wonder about a Python alternative. Its primary goal - beating current firmware: No differences between simulation and real firmware, ensuring code works everywhere HUGE performance improvement Updated API, making Sprig feel like a real game console Multiple-file workflow with imports Image-based graphics (instead of bitmaps) Better launcher experience What have I already implemented? By exploring MicroPython and testing the speed I saw something incredible - a seemingly equal setup had shockingly smooth perforemance, even reaching stable 60-ish fps! All thanks to these solutions: Python handles calculations, C handles hardware access Small framebuffer allocations within Python, C code handles displaying the pixels Utilization of the DMA (direct memory access) chip - allows no CPU use for certain memory transfers, which doesn’t block game loop In addition to this, Input, Rect drawing, persistent State store and general rendering now work flawlessly. Out of screen objects are not rendered (culled), which also helps with smooth frame times. Sprig’s official colors are also transferred perfectly! How did the development journey go so far? Initial build setup was quite complex, as I’ve never made a MicroPython derrivative, so I had to carefully plan the architecture (to make Resin firmware build, include custom libraries, and have in mind publication to PyPI). On top of that, the hardest part was getting hardware to register properly. Screen requires some magic bytes to be sent to initialize. SPI bridge for communication made things easier (having to manage only a handful of pins), however getting it to render colors and do so in correct orientation was a nightmare. Official repository was a great point for reference regarding to how hardware is configured and wired on the PCB, however I had to make my own research while implementing DMA chip framebuffer transfers. The rest is pure python - when I implement the game launcher and write a small utility to make game transfers easier, I will finish defining the rest of developer API. What’s next? Resolving bugs, writing a launcher, and, of course, a simulator, so that anyone can develop games for Sprig without the real hardware. This way Resin can even become a choice for game developers and function as a standalone game engine! Delta time for frametime-independent calculations and API guards to not overwrite important memory by accident are also one of my top priorities. What you see below is a test Python file running - no C code for game’s logic. If you have a Sprig and want to help me test Resin, DM me on Slack!"}]...

Devlogs:
Alr, I guess its stardancing time DEVLOG 1 Alr So learnt what “Socket Mode” for bots meant and configured the slack side settings. Apparently now it requires approval from the workspace before adding it (got it in like 2 secs but still ) Setup the basic structure and nodejs dependencies. Added commands and are currently working locally. Will add a few more commands and ship it so i can progress more on it
Devlog 2 Now the following commands work as of now- /baguette-ping : Checks the Latency of the bot. /baguette-dog : Pulls a random image of a dawg from dog.ceo /baguette-help : Lists all availaible commands of the @baguette slack bot. Alr So I have a lot planned in mind for this one, probably gonna put massive updates into this. Gonna add the /baguette-welcome feature and try to make it automated as well. Gonna finish the flip one as well and more api features. Gonna ship after this one
DEVLOG 3 I am crine cause the bot’s ping name is still @Mk1A-welcomer bot but it’s registered as @baguette Added a new command “/baguette-flip” using Math.random() which gives a value between 0 and 1(floats included). Fixed a lot of bugs cause apparently I used “:” instead of “;” (python user) Learned that “response_type” can be used to send to channel too, instead of just the user! Gonna add channel ping capabilities soon and then move on to make it actually welcome people :>
DEVLOG 4 ok bro who gave me free will Added another Joke Command “/baguette-customs-incident” which Ig tells about the lore of my customs Fixed the Readme (Still have to add local setup instructions) Researched into channel-ping requirements and realized it can get messy :( So gonna just make it so I the person who created the channel can do it Anyways, just hoping for this bot to be reviewed fast
DEVLOG 5 Ok so added one more command which pulls the quote of the day from ZENQUOTES zen Added /baguette-quote Fixed the /baguette-help command (It said nasa api instead ) Need to start working on welcoming capabilities soon. Also fixed a few more stuff? But I forgor
DEVLOG 6 ADDED CHANNEL WELCOMING FEATURES FINALLY! 🥹 Learned a lot of stuff in this one including events! Applied member_joined_channel event to the list and had to reinstall the app to workspace. Commands use app.command() but events use app.event() and differ a lot from commands (yes no shi sherlock) Realized user or channel referencing is done via <${event.user}> or <$user_id> Forgot to add this to the readme Anyways, thinking of adding basic responses like those “automated workspace” ones
After 51 minutes of fixing the readme, making the welcoming feature specific to only my channel so it doesn’t lead to abuse, and debugging this last event… DEVLOG 7 I would like to leave this as the last devlog as I want to focus on more stuff now! Added new message_detection capabilities which trigger on any sentence containing the keyword “Mk1A”(not case sensitive) Fixed the welcoming feature to only my channel #mk1a-notdefined 🔒 Added local setup instructions + Updated Readme Also added a .env.example file for reference! :) Honestly, I did take some help from Gemini for debugging but that was cause I used “message:” instead of “text:” in the response block Anyways, It was about time it was over!
Ships:
I made a slackbot under the “Make a Slack Bot” mission and completed it around 1.3 hours! Currently these three commands work- /baguette-ping : Pings the bot for it’s latency /baguette-help: Lists all availaible commands for the @baguette slack bot /baguette-dog : Gives a picture of a dawg I have a lot of more commands and api features in mind for this and hope to make it a better welcoming bot :)
Baguette Slackbot, A welcomer bot for my personal channel, which can perform the following tasks- Commands- /baguette-ping : Pings the bot for it’s latency /baguette-help : Lists all commands by the @baguette slack bot. /baguette-dog : Fetches an image of a dawg from the dog.ceo dog API! /baguette-flip : Randomly flips Heads or Tails. /baguette-quote : Fetches the quote of the day from ZEN QUOTES zen! /baguette-customs-incident : Tells the lore behind the customs… (in_channel)(joke_command) EVENT Subscriptions– Checks for user entry into my channel ONLY “Mk1A-NotDefined” and sends a welcome message. 🔒 Replies with “Did someone order a FRESH BAGUETTE” to a message containing “Mk1A” and CCs me to the response message, in_channel. I would definitely update this later on but I have more projects to get to so I guess this is it! :) Hope to keep learning...
